Why are those two new features important for Magento Open Source and Adobe Commerce users?
1. Magento 2.4.4 compatibility
On April 12th, 2022, Adobe released version 2.4.4 of Magento Open Source and Adobe Commerce, which includes close to 250 quality fixes and enhancements.

Vendors that were bundled in the native Magento 2 code are now separate from the core, except for Braintree.
As far as your preferred payment provider is concerned, this has no impact on the existing integration and support of OneStepCheckout with AmazonPay or Klarna.
2. Multi-Source Inventory (MSI) Store Pickup support
What is Magento MSI?
Adobe Commerce introduced Inventory Management with Magento 2.4. Merchants who have one storefront and can ship stock from other locations such as stores, warehouses or drop shipping, can accurately manage their stock quantities and let their store recommend the best inventory source based on customers shipping address.
Those features are supported via Magento Community Engineering team for Open source with the Multi-Source Inventory (MSI) project. Read more here.
Why use Pickup in Store | Click and Collect?
BOPIS (Buy online Pickup In Store), also called Click and Collect, Curbside Pickup or Drive has become a very popular shipping option during the COVD-19 Pandemic.
In the US alone, sales from Pick up in Store grew 110% between 2019 and 2020 and is forecst to continue and grow between 15% and 20% Year-on-Year until at least 2024, as per below graph from eMarketer.
BOPIS now accounts for over 10% of all US eCommerce sales so it’s a shipping option that can no longer be ignored.
